- When you call a 900 number even if it just a callback there will a charges for it. Listen to the introductory message and hang up if you do not want to pay for the charges.
- Even if it is a toll free number most of the information service have a charge for the service that they provide when you call them.
- Take caution on taking in calls from information service or pay-per-call.
- Make sure that you know what the charges are when you make a call to the 900 numbers.
- Be cautious when calling an information service that advertises "ordinary toll rates apply" or "international toll rates apply." The toll rates applied by some telephone companies involved in transmitting information services may be higher than the rates of your long distance carrier.
- If you do not want to call any 900 number try getting a 900 number block for it. Try asking your long distance carrier if they can block any outgoing calls to the 900 number.
- Check you phone bill carefully. Calls for the 900 number are listed seperately on your bill.
- Inform you phone company or long distance carrier if you find any charges listed that you do not understand. Have them remove any incorrect chages on your bill for information service.
