Be weary of the company that you are dealing with so that you will not be a victim of this kind of phone scam. If the company is new or you are not familiar about it, ask them to send you more information about the products that they sell or the organization that they are representing. Check with the Better Business Bureau if they are a ligitemate company.
Do give yourself time to think about their offer, do not make a decision because they say it is a limited offer or if there is a time limit on it.
Avoid giving your credit card, social security number, checking account number or other personal information to unfamiliar companies.
Have your phone numbr registered at the “Do not Call” list. This will help you lessen the telemarketing calls and also minimize your chance of getting scammed.

After you have registered your phone number at the “do not call” list and you still get telemarketing calls, make a list of the name of the company. Inform them that you have placed your number at the “do not call” list. If they still keep calling you can report them.
If you think that the telemarketer is pushing you into buy their products and that they are representing an unfamiliar company you can just hang up.
